John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett at St Ives September Festival
14. September, 20:00 - 22:45
Renowned singer-songwriter John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett, the self-styled “father of grunge folk”, will be appearing at St Ives Theatre during the 2018 St Ives September Festival.
Still going after more than 40 years, the deadpan humour of Barrett and mad onstage antics of Otway are hilarious to watch. John’s lyrical genius and Willy’s outstanding musicianship on almost every stringed instrument known to man – plus a few hybrids of his own making – are a captivating combination.
Willy has gone back to their roots with a new addition to his array of instruments, which he calls the Les Dawson Thumb. The idea stems from the guitar made by Willy’s dad in 1965 from an old guitar neck and a scaffold plank, which became affectionately known as the Les Dawson!
